Numerous cases of failure after attempting pregnancy all

within a year of unprotected sex, but still if the female fails to conceive,
the couple must see a doctor. The sperm or sperms released when a male

sperms are contained in the semen that a male ejaculates. 15-20 million sperms
are healthy enough to support fertilization. However only 400 survive after

months of unprotected sex.

Treatment for Male Infertility
1. Doctor may prescribe certain medicines like mesterolone,
tamoxifen, clomiphene citrate to improve the seminal quality of the infertile
male. Even gonadotropin injections may be suggested for the same purpose.
2. One may also opt for surgical treatment. Microsurgery is
a way to treat male infertility due to hindrances in the sperm conduction
pathway, varicoceles, undescended testes etc.
3. When drugs and surgery fail to help an infertile male, he
may take recourse to assisted reproduction carried out in reproductive
laboratories. The target is to improve semen qualitatively and facilitate the
penetration of sperm in to egg or ovum. In laboratory, this target is achieved
through procedures like sperm washing, capacitation, intra-uterine insemination
(IUI), gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT), in vitro fertilization (IVF) and
micro-manipulation (ICSI).
4. Alternative treatment includes use of herbs to cure
infertility in males. Herbs like Asian ginseng, Siberian ginseng, astragalus
and pumpkin seeds help in curing infertility by boosting sperm production,
increasing sperm motility and also sex drive in males.
